02 Making it easier to come back

Your planner shouldn’t need
a planner.

You open your dashboard to remember what needs doing. Then you spot yesterday’s unfinished tasks. A habit counter. Three databases waiting to be tidied. Before you’ve started, you’re already managing the system.

When a planner feels like that, it is worth changing the setup. Try hiding views you don’t use, making fewer fields compulsory, or keeping just one obvious place for today’s tasks.

Can you open it after a week away and do one useful thing?

That is the test we would use before choosing any ADHD planner. Look at how easy it is to capture a thought, pick a task and return after a gap. You don’t have to fill every page to get something out of it.

03 A practical buying checklist

Five things to look for.
Even in the free ones.

Use these checks to judge how well a template fits your day before you spend an evening setting it up.

  1. A thought can land without a form.

A brain dump should let you write first and sort later. A title is enough to begin; dates, categories and priorities can wait.

Try this: Can you add “find that receipt” without choosing three other things?
  2. Tasks account for your available energy.

“Call the insurance company” and “reply to one email” can share a deadline and still ask very different things of you. Energy tags give you another way to choose, alongside urgency.

Look for: An easy way to find a small task when that’s what you have room for.
  3. Routines have their steps written down.

“Get ready” is a heading. A short checklist tells you what that means. You should be able to edit the steps to match your own morning or evening.

Look for: Checklists you can reuse without rebuilding them each day.
  4. Finished things still have a place.

An unfinished list tells only part of the story. A completed view or wins log lets you see the email sent, the appointment booked and the small thing you finally handled.

Look for: Progress you can revisit without needing a perfect streak.
  5. The dashboard does the counting.

You still need to log activity and mark tasks done. But totals and summaries should calculate from those entries, so you don’t have to type the same information twice.

Ask: What do I update myself, and what updates from the records?
04 Find the right amount of system

A dashboard, a tracker,
or the whole workspace?

More features don’t automatically make a better ADHD Notion template. Start with the job you need it to do.

06 A gentler first week

Start with less
than you think.

You don’t need to move your whole life in on day one. Here is a small way to see whether the template is useful to you.

  1. DAY 01

    Make it yours.

Open the Marketplace listing, add the template to your Notion workspace, and put a few real tasks in it. Take a look at the sample entries first.

  2. DAYS 2 TO 6

    Use one corner.

Try the brain dump and daily task view. Leave other pages alone unless you need them. Adjust anything that gets in the way.

  3. DAY 07

    Keep what helped.

Ask what you opened, what you ignored and what felt like effort. Hide unused views. Add only what you missed.

Missed a few days? Pick one task for today. You can decide later whether the old entries still matter.

When the free version isn’t enough.

There is also a paid ADHD Life OS Pro. Check its current feature list against a specific need before buying. If the free version covers your day, keep using it.

07 A few things you might be wondering

Before you duplicate.

What is the best Notion template for ADHD?

There isn’t one template that fits everyone. Look for quick capture, a manageable daily view and an easy return after a gap. ADHD Life OS is our free option for people who want tasks, routines and logs together. A simple checklist may fit you better if you only want to plan today.

Is ADHD Life OS actually free?

Yes. ADHD Life OS is a free template, with no trial period and no NotoMantra email signup. You will need a Notion account to add it to your workspace. ADHD Life OS Pro is a separate paid product.

Do I need a paid Notion plan?

No paid Notion plan is required for the template’s core personal workflow. Notion’s Free plan supports individual pages and databases; file uploads and collaboration have plan limits. Check Notion’s current pricing if you need larger uploads or a shared team workspace.

What is included in the free ADHD Life OS template?

The template has more than ten connected pages and databases covering tasks, brain dump, habit tracking, focus sessions, mood and energy logging, routines, wins, distractions, a calendar, self-care and calculated dashboard summaries. The feature overview above explains what you can use each part for.

Can I use this ADHD planner on my phone?

You can use the template in Notion on mobile as well as desktop. Larger databases are easier to arrange on a bigger screen. Try opening your task view and adding a brain-dump entry on your own phone before relying on it for daily capture.

What if I keep abandoning planners?

Start by noticing what makes you stop opening them: too much setup, too many places to look, or tracking that feels unhelpful. Reduce the setup to one capture place and one task view. There is no requirement to use every feature, and leaving a planner unused doesn’t tell you anything about your worth.

Does ADHD Life OS have habit streaks?

Yes, habit tracking includes streaks. You do not have to make them the center of your setup. If streaks feel discouraging, hide that view and use completed tasks or the wins gallery to look back at progress.

Is Notion a good fit for ADHD?

It may fit if you like keeping information in one place and want to adapt your workspace. It may be less useful if customising becomes a distraction or you want an app with almost no setup. Trying a small free workflow is a practical way to find out whether you want to keep using it.

Common questions.

Is there a free Notion template for ADHD?

Yes. ADHD Life OS is a complete ADHD life system in Notion and it is free permanently, not a trial and not a stripped preview. It needs no email address to download and runs on Notion's free personal plan. It is rated 4.9 from 68 ratings on the Notion marketplace with over 1,000 installs.

Is ADHD Life OS free?

ADHD Life OS is free. No trial period, no email capture, no locked pages and no card required. It includes ten connected pages and databases covering brain dump, energy-aware tasks, habit streaks, focus sessions, mood and energy logging, routines, wins and a self-updating metrics dashboard.

What is the best Notion template for ADHD?

The best ADHD Notion template is the one with the lowest cost to open. In practice that means one capture box that accepts an unsorted thought, tasks sorted by how much brain they need rather than by deadline, and no streak that can be broken. ADHD Life OS is a free option built to those rules and is rated 4.9 by 68 people.

Why do I keep abandoning ADHD planners?

Usually because the system asks for more maintenance than it returns, or because one missed day makes the whole thing feel ruined. Both are design faults, not discipline faults. A template that survives has no streak to break, no daily setup ritual and no empty state that shames you for coming back.

What should an ADHD Notion template actually include?

Five things. A brain dump that accepts thoughts with no categorising. Tasks tagged by energy cost, not just due date. Routines as checklists so nothing depends on memory. A wins record, because ADHD brains under-record what got done. And a dashboard that updates itself rather than one you maintain by hand.

Do I need Notion's paid plan for an ADHD system?

No. The free personal plan runs a complete ADHD setup. The two limits worth paying to remove are the 5MB per-file upload cap and shared workspace members, and only after you have actually hit them.
